Effingham Unit 40 school board members Monday acted on personnel matters and handled student discipline cases.

The Board hired Jason Koester as a mechanic assistant and accepted a resignation from Vicki Schoenhoff as a midday speech route driver, effective immediately.

Jason Warner was transferred to a mid-shift custodian position at Effingham High School, and Diane Tieffel was granted a leave of absence.

The Board also addressed three student discipline cases, voting to expel three students through the 2019-2020 school and to refer the three students to alternative education.

Bargainers for the Board and for the Effingham Educational Support Professionals will be meeting this evening for a contract mediation session. The support staffers have been working under a contract agreement that ended in 2017.
