The City has announced the plan for the week is as follows, subject to actual progress and weather:
--There are no water service interruptions planned for the week.
--Monday, February 4, the contractor will start work on installing the water main on Banker Street at Jefferson Avenue. This will require the closure of the westbound lane on Jefferson Avenue between Banker Street and Front Street. In addition, the southbound lane of Banker Street will be closed between Washington Avenue and Section Avenue – the work may require the complete closure of Banker Street and Jefferson Avenue in that area. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes. This work may carry over into Tuesday, February 5.
--The work will continue east on Jefferson Avenue with the installation of connections for some of the buildings between Banker Street and Fourth Street – there are no water service interruptions planned. The North lane of Jefferson Avenue and the adjacent parking lane will be closed during this work.
--Later in the week, the water main on Fourth Street will be installed. This will require the closure of Jefferson Avenue from 5th Street to Third Street and Fourth Street from Washington Avenue to Section Avenue. There are no water service interruptions planned with this work.
The City of Effingham and B & T Drainage appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation during the project.
