Two semis and a car collided on I-70, about five miles west of Effingham Monday night.

The crash happened in the westbound lanes at 8:11pm.

State Police report the car, driven by 31-year-old Patricia Brown of Terre Haute, Indiana, rear-ended both semis. The rigs were driven by 46-year-old Reynaldo Fruits of Moore, Oklahoma and 29-year-old Travis Mitchell of Greenville, South Carolina. The collision disabled Brown's car, which was stranded in the right lane of traffic.

Brown was injured in the crash and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, then airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Neither semi driver was injured.

Brown was cited for following too closely and failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

Effingham Fire Department assisted at the scene.
