The Stewardson-Strasburg Board of Education has accepted the resignation of Superintendent Michele Lindenmeyer, effective at the end of the fiscal year June 30.

Dr. Lindenmeyer has agreed to a three-year contract to become superintendent of the Milford school district in northeastern Illinois, north of Hoopeston and south of Watseka. Lindenmeyer said it's a district of about 600 students.

Lindenmeyer is in her sixth year as Stew-Stras superintendent. She served as Stew-Stras High School principal for four years before leaving for the Regional Superintendent's office for two years and then returned to the district as superintendent.

Lindenmeyer said she has nothing but fond wishes for the people and students of the Stew-Stras district.

At this week's meeting, the Stew-Stras board discussed setting August 16 as the first day of the coming school year, and have agreed to begin full day school days at the start of the school year. Lindenmeyer said the installation of air conditioning in the grade school building should allow the full days from the start.

The Board also discussed a tentative graduation date for this school year of Sunday, May 19; junior high at 1:30pm, high school at 3pm.

Board members approved Nick Niemerg and Emma Spradlin as head coach and assistant coach for junior high girls basketball for next school year, and accepted the resignation of Roger Thomas as junior high baseball coach. The district is also looking for a guidance counselor, a social worker, and a couple of teachers.
