Bids on the Teutopolis High School project came in below the architect's estimated costs. The bids were opened Wednesday afternoon.

Teutopolis Superintendent Bill Fritcher said the bids might mean the Board could reduce the amount of bonds sold to finance the work.

Fritcher said there were four bidders on the project to tear down the 1929 and 1949 portions of the building and to construct seven classrooms. Alternate bids were also received on adding two more classrooms and on renovating the exterior of the 2002-2003 addition to make it conform to the rest of the front of the high school building.

Separate bids were also received on some asbestos abatement work to be done by the District this summer, and on the casework, or cabinetry, needed in the new classrooms.

The Board will hold a special meeting on Thursday evening, January 24 at 6pm to consider awarding the bids and selling the bonds to finance the work.
