The Cumberland Board of Education has hired an interim superintendent to bridge the gap between the departing Russell Ragon and the incoming Todd Butler.

Butler, who now serves as high school principal, is still completing the certification needed to serve as superintendent.  He will take over as superintendent for the 2014-2015 school year.  That led the Board Thursday to hire John Hasten, a retired administrator, to serve as interim superintendent during the 2013-2014 school year.  Hasten lives in Marshall.

Ragon is leaving at the end of this school year to take a superintendent's job in the Peoria area.
