St. Elmo Woman Injured in Morning Crash

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office reported an accident occured at 10:07 Monday morning.

Haley B Gates, 25 of St. Elmo, was traveling east bound on 1600th Avenue near 700th Street in Summit Township when she lost control of her minivan after hydroplaning. She began to spin in the roadway, struck the mailbox at 7682 E 1600th Avenue and continued east bound through the yard and struck a large PVC sign on the northside of the roadway. The van continued through a wire fence and came to rest between two rows of grape vines. 

Gates was taken by transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Gates was ticketed for Driving too Fast for Conditions.
