A Toledo man has been sentenced in Shelby County to five years in prison.

46-year-old Scott A. Williams was sentenced for attempted burglary.

Shelby County State's Attorney Gina Vonderheide said the owner of the Rainbow Wash House Laundromat in Shelbyville reported that three of his industrial washing machines had been burglarized by someone drilling out the key holes. A video from the business showed a passenger car pull into the parking lot just before 11:30pm on November 27. A female driver and a male passenger got out of the car and entered the business. The woman held a basket of clothes on the machines while the man apparently attempted to break into them. At one point on the video, the man dumped one of the coin boxes into the basket. During this time, the female stood in front of the male, blocking any passerby's view and keeping watch for other customers.

On December 4, the laundromat owner phoned police again stating that the same couple entered the laundromat the day before, and the male again drilled out one of the machines.

Shelbyville police officers learned that the vehicle was owned by Tammy Wendt, and that her boyfriend was identified as Williams. The two were later picked up on warrants.
