Aldrich and his family relocated out of the North Clay district a few months ago when he became baseball coach at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, but he agreed to continue as superintendent. He has served as North Clay superintendent since 2005.
Aldrich's resignation is effective January 31, 2019. The vote to accept the resignation was 4-2 with one abstention.
The North Clay board hired Rick Batchelor to serve as interim superintendent until Aldrich's successor is chosen. Batchelor is the retired superintendent of the South Central school district.
In other personnel action at North Clay, the Board hired Michele Ruesken as a substitute paraprofessional, hired Brenda Warner as Guided Learning teacher as of January 2, hired Toby Ault as a custodian, hired Bryce Holkenbrink as high school boys volunteer assistant basketball coach, and accepted the resignation of Janessa Dawkins as high school assistant volleyball coach. The vote on Dawkins was 3-2 with one person voting "present" and one person abstaining.
North Clay board members also passed the fiscal year tax levy; approved a request from Brad and Mandy Clark to help with Post Prom activities to potentially be off-campus this year; and were updated about recent Homecoming activities, and work in the district greenhouse.
