Teutopolis village board members Wednesday paid its final bill on one project in Prairie View Subdivision.

A.J. Walker Construction of Mattoon received a $38,000 payment to close out its work on the new residential subdivision in the southeast part of the village.

Meanwhile, work continues on plans for a new Village Hall. The Village has been saving for years to have enough money to pay for a new building. No tax levy or bonds will be needed to pay for the project. The Board and its building and grounds committee asked earlier this month for a review of plans for the new building to make sure the cost stays under the amount of funds put away for the project.

The Board did vote earlier this month to hire a structural engineer to make sure of the structural integrity of the current building. The findings could help the Village Board with deciding on a timetable for the new building.

The building and grounds committee is to meet just ahead of the next Village Board meeting on January 2.
