Car Sideswipes Altamont School Bus Wednesday; No Injuries

A car sideswiped an Altamont school district school bus Wednesday; no one was injured.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reported the crash happened at 12:49pm on US Route 40, a quarter-mile east of 900th Street, just west of Funkhouser.

Deputies report an eastbound car driven by 21-year-old Ashley Schaufler of Teutopolis crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and sideswiped the Altamont bus driven by 64-year-old Melody Morrison of Altamont.

No one in either vehicle was injured. Schaufler was cited for improper lane usage and no valid driver's license.
