Assistant Fire Chief Matt Kulesza has been recognized as City of Effingham Employee of the Quarter as a part of the City’s Employee Recognition Program. The Employee of the Quarter Award recognizes an employee who demonstrated either distinguished or extraordinary service during the fiscal quarter or other accomplishments that typically go unnoticed but are worthy of recognition.

Effingham Mayor Jeff Bloemker said, "Kulesza was nominated because he has performed above and beyond expectations. Kulesza was extremely helpful in the transition of Chief Bob Tutko to Interim Fire Chief and eventually to permanent Fire Chief for the City of Effingham. Kulesza went well beyond his regular job duties during this transition to make it as smooth as possible for everyone."

The Mayor added, "Kulesza also performs many behind-the-scenes activities that easily go unnoticed. Kulesza works daily with business owners and contractors to ensure the safety of businesses. He often goes above and beyond to drop what he is doing to meet with them to review options and offer logical alternatives or cost-saving measures that permit compliance with the appropriate codes and provide value to the business owners. He’s a valuable asset to the City of Effingham Fire Department and the business community as a whole."

The City appreciates citizen participation in the Employee Recognition Program. If you notice a City employee going above and beyond to serve you, please phone City Hall at 217-342-5300, email jkemper@effinghamil.com or use the Effingham Connection App!
