At 9:50 Friday night a box truck driven by Brittany L. McKnelly, 36 of Louisville was traveling north on Interstate 57 at milepost 119 in Marion County.  McKnelly lost control on ice driving over a bridge.  The box truck slid off into the median then overturned onto its driver’s side where it came to rest.

The passenger Charmen L. Dawkins, 46 of Clay City, was transported to Salem Hospital for what the State Police termed as minor injuries.

No tickets were issued.

A second accident occured also at the 119 milepost on Interstate 57 at 11:44. A pickup truck driven by Morgan N. Boyd, 27 of Louisville, was  attempting to pass another vehicle when he lost control and began to slide on the icy roadway. Boyd over corrected and left the roadway to the right and overturned several times before coming to a rest in a field.

Boyd was transported by Rural Med to Salem Township Hospital in Salem.

Boyd was charged with Driving Too Fast for Conditions, Driver Not Wearing Seatbelt, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
