Brownstown resident Joseph Beshel has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to his third DUI offense, one that led to the death of another driver.

The 48-year-old Beshel was traveling on US Route 40, west of Brownstown, when his vehicle struck the front of a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Scott White of Brownstown. White was attempting to turn into his driveway when struck by Beshel's vehicle. White was pronounced dead at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

Beshel was alleged to have a blood alcohol count over the legal limit as well as THC in his system when the crash occurred on January 19, 2017.

Due to a possible conflict in the case, the prosecution of the case was handled by the State's Attorney's Appellate Prosecutor's Office.
