City Police Report on Two Crashes w/Injuries

Effingham city police issued information on two recent crashes resulting in injuries.

One crash occurred October 12 just after 9:30pm at Henrietta and Fayette. Police report a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Robert Koelz of Effingham struck a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Patricia Corley of Altamont.

Corley and an eight-year-old juvenile passenger in Corley's vehicle, Cash Corley of Altamont, were injured and were taken by private vehicle to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Koelz was cited for DUI and disobeying a traffic control device.

Another crash occurred October 5 just before noon at Raney and McGrath in the city business park. Police say a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Taylor Mann of Effingham rear-ended a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Eugene Bartels of Watson.

Mann was injured, but refused treatment.

Mann was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
