State police handled two crashes with injuries in Jasper County Wednesday.

One crash happened just before 10am in a rural part of the county, at 600 North and 1275 East. Police say a car driven by 20-year-old Miranda Meeks of Newton was eastbound when Meeks failed to negotiate a curve. The car ran off the roadway and traveled through a ditch before striking a culvert and going airborne. The car landed on the roadway and overturned multiple times before coming to rest.

Meeks was injured and was airlifted from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Meeks was cited for improper lane usage and driving too fast for conditions.

The other crash happened at 3:23pm on Jasper County Road 1300 North at West Street in Wheeler. State police say a car driven by 35-year-old Dawn Meinhart of Newton was eastbound when it ran off the road. The car traveled through private yards and then struck a parked truck in a driveway and came to a stop.

Meinhart was injured and was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
