Two California men were injured in a crash in Fayette County Thursday morning.

The crash happened shortly after 10:30am on I-70 near Mulberry Grove. State police report a semi driven by 26-year-old Jossie Barrios of Norwalk, California, was eastbound and trying to negotiate a curve when the front passenger side steer tire blew out.

Police said Barrios was no longer able to negotiate the turn and left the roadway to the right. The rig continued down an embankment and struck a ditch before coming to rest upright.

Barrios was injured, as was his passenger, 53-year-old Rafael Santos of Huntington Beach, California. Both men were taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.

No citations were issued.
