A Facebook post about an old scam that had a new twist.

A grandma got a phone call from someone saying they were a lawyer. The caller stated that the grandma's son had been in a terrible accident and that he had admitted fault. The caller said they would represent the son, but would have to be sent $12,000 as a retainer for his legal counsel.

Thankfully, the grandma was able to check and found that her son is fine and not in any accident. Typically when this scam is tried, the caller indicates that a grandson has been arrested and they are seeking money to get the grandson out of jail. Sometimes, they even get someone to say they are the grandson who is calling.

It's almost always a scam if someone calls you asking you to send money. Contact local police for assistance.
