Three Robinson residents were arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine after their car ran out of gas and they summoned assistance.

37-year-old Brandon Bennett, 37-year-old Joshua Lee Mullins and 36-year-old Kendra Boone were traveling on the interstate near Altamont Tuesday when the gas gauge in the car hit "E". When Altamont police arrived on scene, the three said they needed to go to the gas station. Altamont Police Chief Alan Heiens said instead of leaving the meth in the car, they decided to take it with them. The officer said he needed to pat them down before they could ride with him to the station and that's when he found the meth. Heiens said each of the three had some meth on their person. Boone was also arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

All three were in Effingham County Jail as of early Wednesday morning.
