Semi Rear-Ends Car on Interstate Off-Ramp at Effingham

A semi rear-ended a car Tuesday afternoon on the interstate off-ramp onto Keller Drive.

The crash happened just before 2:30pm when a rig driven by 29-year-old Daniel Ray Leggitt of Springfield, Arkansas rear-ended the car stopped in traffic driven by 58-year-old Prakash Patel of Vandalia.

Patel was treated at the scene, but his passengers, 39-year-old Matthew Neuman and 52-year-old Michael Mace, both of Vandalia, were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Leggitt was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
