This past weekend, Sacred Heart Catholic Parish of Effingham announced plans for a capital fund drive to its members. Titled the “Renew & Rejoice” Campaign, the effort’s aim is to raise the funds required to renovate and expand the church’s worship space.

The parish has set a minimum goal of $1,600,000 for the effort. Combined with a loan from the Diocese, reaching this goal would enable the church to complete a long list of needed upgrades to its aging worship space and construct a narthex addition to its main entrance on the north. The church has also set an “Ultimate” goal of $2,250,000, which would enable it to complete these plans with no long-term debt.

The campaign will officially commence with a special Kick-Off Celebration scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 16, and will culminate on Commitment Weekend on November 10-11. Parish volunteers will be personally visiting their fellow parishioners and select others, inviting them to support the project before or by then.
