*Update* Motorcycle Rider Fatally Injured on Montrose Blacktop

A motorycle rider that was fatally injured Friday afternoon in a downpour when the cycle went down and was struck by a semi has been identified as Zachary Cohen, 20 of Highland Park. He was pronouced dead at the scene.

The incident happened on the Montrose/Dieterich blacktop, about two miles south of Montrose at about 1:20pm.

The semi driver Brandon Barnes, 30 of Mattoonattempted to avoid the cycle and ended up running off the roadway, rolling over into a ditch. Barnes was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital.

The blacktop was closed at the crash scene until shortly before 5pm Friday.
