A double card of harness racing will begin at noon at the Effingham County Fair.

After three days of washouts, 15 heats of racing are scheduled today. Hear all of the action on KJ Country 102.3.

Other highlights at the fair today...the 4-H Youth Auction will begin at 5:30pm...and the Hasting's Filters and Dust and Son Truck/Tractor/Antique/Blower class pulling will begin at 6:30pm. It should be a big night since Monday night's pulling action was rained out.

The Illinois Beef Association will serve samples prior to tonight's auction, and Farm Credit will have free watermelon.

A local semi class that was rained out Monday night will be run tonight toward the end of the evening.

As far as judging...pygmy goat check-in begins at 10am. The 4-H and Junior Rabbit shows, and the 4-H and Junior Cat shows all got underway this morning.

The carnival opens at 5pm today at a cost of one ticket per ride.

A mention, too, that there will again be a shuttle service by Livin It Up Transportation tonight between the fairgrounds and Altamont Community High School, at no charge, beginning at 5pm.

A reminder that you can hear the results of judging activity each morning at 8:45am on KJ Country 102.3.

Free live demonstrations continue today in the Schuetzenfest Building. Today's topic is Fondant Cake Decorating by Chef Loren Lombardi. Programs are scheduled at 3:30 and 5:30pm.

The fair runs through Saturday at Altamont.
