State Crop Report for Week Ending July 29

There were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending July 29.

Statewide, the average temperature was 71.3 degrees, 3.7 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.19 inches, 0.66 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 5 percent very short, 22 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 6 percent very short, 24 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus.

Corn dough reached 64 percent, compared to 32 percent last year. Corn dented reached 6 percent, compared to 1 percent last year. Corn condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 15 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 29 percent excellent.

Soybeans blooming reached 92 percent, compared to 86 percent last year. Soybeans setting pods was at 77 percent, compared to 48 percent last year. Soybean condition was rated at 3 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 50 percent good, and 25 percent excellent.

Sorghum headed reached 56 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 49 percent. Sorghum coloring reached 12 percent, compared to 2 percent last year. Sorghum condition was rated at 5 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 62 percent good, and 7 percent excellent.
