Cowden-Herrick School District has released registration information for the 2018-2019 school year.

All students in grades K-12 are to complete final registration on either August 8th or August 9th. Registration on Wednesday, August 8th will be held in the library at the Cowden-Herrick Elementary School in Herrick, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. On Thursday, August 9th, registration will be held at the Cowden-Herrick Junior/Senior High School Cafeteria in Cowden, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Students may register at either location.

Book rental fees are due at registration. Book rental fees are $40.00 plus $50.00 for workbooks for grades K-12. Sports fee is $25 per child, per sport or $50.00 cap per family, Driver Education school fee is $100.00. There will also be student accident insurance for those families that are interested. More information can be found on our website at cowden-herrick.k12.il.us. Lunch and breakfast prices: Lunch $3.00 per day and Breakfast $1.50 per day.

Physical examinations are required for all students upon entrance into kindergarten or first grade and upon entrance into sixth and ninth grades. Students new to the district must also present evidence of a complete physical examination when registering for their classes. Physical forms will be available at the clinic or may be picked up at the High School office August 1st – 3rd or obtained from the school website: http://www.cowden-herrick.k12.il.us/forms. All student athletes going out for any sport must have their physicals before they can practice. Cindy Rich, FNP, will be giving student and athletic physicals at the Cowden Medical Clinic in Cowden on Friday, August 3rd from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Cost of physical is $20.00 cash or check only, made payable to the Cowden Medical Clinic.

Dental exams are required for students in K, 2nd, and 6th grades. Those forms are also available at the school office. The State of Illinois requires all kindergarten students to have an eye exam by an Optometrist, those forms are also available in the school office.

Students in K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades, as well as all special education students, are required to have a vision and hearing test during the school year. These tests will be given by the Shelby County Health Department at the school and the fee for this service is $8.00. This fee may be paid at registration. The 2017-18 Junior High and High School combined yearbooks have arrived. If you have already purchased your book, you may pick it up during registration. If you have not yet purchased your copy, a limited number of copies will be available at $30.00 each. 2018-19 yearbooks may be preordered/prepaid at registration. Yearbooks are $30.00, additional copies for students residing in the same household are $25.00 each.

School Start and End Times: 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., shuttles leave at 7:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.
