Despite the rainy weather, the Effingham County Fair Talent Show took place Sunday evening.

The Senior Division winner was the dance team of Faith Whitley and Madison Fear, who danced to the song, "AYO".

The Junior Division winner was the duet of Bailey Niccum and Sam Thompson, who performed the song "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better".

Due to the illness of one of the contestants, there were just three entries in the Senior Division so only a first place winner was chosen. The other two Senior Division entrants were Maddie Davidson, who played a snare drum solo dressed as Spiderman, and Olivia Stanfield, who sang and played, "Dog Days Are Over".

Brooklyn Lashmet was awarded second place in the Junior Division for dancing to "Wear Em Out". Other Junior Division contestants were Emmerson Hansen who sang, "Gal Like Me"; Lanie Tedrick, who sang "All American Girl"; and Annie Cutler, who danced to "Colors of the Wind".

The division winners will advanced to the State Fair Talent Contest in Springfield in January, with a shot at advancing to the State Fair next summer.

Sunday's rains caused the cancellation of the annual fair parade, which will not be re-scheduled. It also resulted in the postponement of the opening afternoon of harness racing. That means a double card of races will be run Monday, weather permitting, starting at noon. The races will be heard on KJ Country 102.3.

A reminder, too, that we will have 4-H judging results from the fair beginning Monday at 8:45am on KJ Country 102.3, courtesy of Kaylynn Moeller.
