2018 Effingham County Fair Begins Today

The 2018 Effingham County Fair begins today. It's the 74th fair held at the Altamont location.
 
This year's theme is "Sew it, Grow it, Show it".
 
A 5K Run will begin at 8am, followed by a Car Show at 9am. A first day of Ranch Sorting begins at 10am, and bounce houses from Mid America Jumper will be available from noon to 10pm.
 
The evening attraction will be Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League action beginning at 6:30pm. Tickets are $20 for infield seating, and $12 for grandstand seating.
 
The judging schedule at this year's fair began Thursday. The Saturday judging schedule is:
 
--8am--4-H and Junior Dog Show
 
--8am--Poultry and Waterfowl Check-In and Blood Draw
 
--8am--Boer Goat Weigh-In
 
--8:30am--Swine Exhibitor Meeting
 
--8:30am-Sheep Check-In and Weigh-In
 
--9am--Beef Weigh-In
 
--9am--Swine Check-In
 
--9:30am--Swine Weigh-In
 
--10:30am--4-H Tractor Driving Event
 
--11am--4-H Boer Goat Show
 
--1:30pm--4-H Sheep Show
 
--Pee Wee Show will begin 15 minutes after 4-H Sheep Show is over
 
--6pm--Junior Swine Show
 
A reminder that horse racing at this year's fair begins Sunday with a 1pm post time. Hear Sunday's card of racing on 979XFM. The Monday through Friday races will be heard on KJ Country 102.3.
