Brownstown Man Injured in Crash Sunday

A Brownstown man was injured Sunday in a single-car crash in a rural part of Fayette County.

State police say 22-year-old Eric Gurtner was southbound near a rural intersection north of Bluff City when the crash happened just before 4pm. Reports are that Gurtner lost control of the car south of the intersection. The car ran off the roadway to the right, crossed the ditch and then struck an embankment, which caused the vehicle to go airborne, ejecting Gurtner from the vehicle. The car then overturned and came to rest on a pasture fence.

Gurtner was transported via Air Evac to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
