A Watson man has died and authorities are working to determine the cause of death.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said 28-year-old Zachery Watts was dropped off by a friend at the emergency room at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital at approximately 9:30am Friday. Rhodes said Watts was unresponsive and died at 10:52am.

The hospital notified the Coroner's Office and the Effingham County Sheriff's Depatment Detective Section and the agencies responded to the emergency room.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning to help determine the cause of Watts' death.

The Coroner's Office and the Sheriff's Department are continuing the investigation while awaiting results of the autopsy and toxicology reports.
