Drs. Sehy and Jones Receives City's Business Appreciation Award

The City of Effingham has named Drs. Sehy and Jones, P.C. as a recipient of the City of Effingham’s Business Appreciation Award.

Mayor Jeff Bloemker stated, "Sehy and Jones is an iconic health care clinic in Effingham. At a time when most businesses struggle to get past first generation ownership, Sehy and Jones is solidly into the third generation. I've had an interesting view of their development over the years as my mother worked in their office back in the 1970's. Thank you, Dr. John Sehy, for choosing Effingham!"

One nominator stated, “This is a business that cares deeply about their patients. The doctors are genuinely interested in a good quality of life for their patients through improved vision. The employees are appreciated and respected.”

Drs. Sehy and Jones, P.C. has been in business for over 80 years. The business was started back in the 1930's by Dr. John Sehy. Since that time, he has passed the business on to his son Mike and now on to his grandson, Dr. Brian Sehy. Around 40 years ago Dr. Robert Jones joined the practice. Since that time, his son has also chosen the field of optometry and has joined the practice. Currently, they have the third generation of Sehy and two generations of Jones that own the company. The doctors that currently work at the Effingham location are Dr. Matthew Jones, Dr. Robert Jones and Dr. Brian Sehy.

Drs. Sehy and Jones, P.C. prides itself on its customer service. The patient experience is of utmost importance. One nominator stated, “Never have I experienced customer service at this level. Drs. Sehy and Jones know what they are doing when it comes to patient care,” after bringing her child to her first vision appointment.

Not only do Drs. Sehy and Jones work hard at giving back to the local community, they also use their talents to give back in other countries. Dr. Robert Jones and his son Dr. Matthew Jones go to remote mountainous villages in Honduras each year and conduct eye exams for many of the Lenca Indian tribes people there. They also take hundreds of pairs of glasses to give out to the people in need that may not have any other means to get the prescriptions glasses they need. Dr. Robert's son Nathan (Matthew's twin brother) is a medical doctor and conducts exams on these trips as well.

Since the humble beginnings, Drs. Sehy and Jones, P.C. has grown to over 30 employees with four locations that include Taylorville, Pana, Effingham and Decatur. Many services have been offered over the years. What started as a place to get eye exams is now a full-service practice offering many of the top frame companies like Tiffany, Oakely, Rayban and many others. The experienced doctors and staff offer comprehensive vision examinations and specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of eye diseases, conditions, and problems. Seeking to distinguish themselves from others, this practice utilizes the most technologically advanced equipment offered in the field today.
