Neoga school board members Wednesday agreed to petition the City of Neoga for rezoning of the former Neoga Elementary School building and property.

The petition requests a rezoning from R1 Single Family Residential to C1 Central Business District. The Neoga City Council will need to vote to approve the rezoning.

The former grade school building is now being used as a food pantry and for the Community Clothesline, a clothes closet. Strong Beginnings, a pre-school program, is also housed in the building.

The school district at present still owns the building, but the rezoning could open up the facility for use for commercial enterprises.
