Crash at Montrose Results in Injury

A Beecher City resident was injured in a crash at Montrose Monday night.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports a car driven by 20-year-old Michaela Herpstreith was southbound on Spring Creek Road at Highway View Avenue at 9:47pm when the crash occurred. Deputies report Herpstreith lost control of the vehicle, which skidded approximately 80 feet before striking the curb on the west side of the roadway. The vehicle came to rest in a ditch.

Herpstreith was treated at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. She was cited for DUI, failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of liquor.
