North Clay school board members were updated this week on improvement projects in the district.

New carpeting and fresh paint is in place in the first grade classrooms and title aide room. Also, construction is underway in the high school gym with the installation of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.

The Board was updated by North Clay teacher Jennifer Iffert regarding programs and interventions offered within the district regarding reading intervention, and the Board approved purchasing two new propane-powered buses with two trade-ins. Board members also discussed a proposed co-op with the Clay City district in junior high basketball, and a proposed co-op with the Flora district in football.

The discussion focused on possible co-op with Flora football. A review of all correspondence regarding the issue was presented and discussed. The Board then directed the Administration to contact Flora School District to obtain clarification from the Flora Board of Education on whether they want to co-op with North Clay or not.

Also, the Board set meeting start times for the coming at 6pm, rather than 6:30pm, but still on the third Wednesday of each month.

In personnel matters, the North Clay board accepted the resignation of Jody Aldrich as special education coordinator effective July 31; granted principal Guzman authority to hire a secretary before the next meeting; approved advertising for a part-time parent educator for the Pre-K Grant; and set the salary for district treasurer Cheryl Kuhlig.
