Crop Report for Week Ending June 17

Scattered showers fell throughout the state last week. There were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending June 17.

Statewide, the average temperature was 76.6 degrees, 4.5 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 1.40 inches, 0.40 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 4 percent very short, 16 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 4 percent very short, 19 percent short, 65 percent adequate, and 12 percent surplus.

Corn condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 15 percent fair, 52 percent good, and 29 percent excellent.

Soybeans emerged was at 93 percent. Soybeans blooming reached 3 percent, compared with 1 percent last year. Soybean condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 19 percent fair, 54 percent good, and 23 percent excellent.

Sorghum planted was at 90 percent. Sorghum condition was rated at 9 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 48 percent good, and 9 percent excellent.

Winter wheat harvest was 30 percent complete, compared to the 5- year average of 19 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated at 4 percent very poor, 9 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 47 percent good, and 11 percent excellent.
