At approximately 7:45 Saturday night Timmy J. Sowers, 51, of Louisville was street racing against another motorcylcle traveling west on East Railroad Street, west of South Mill Street in Flora.

Sowers' Harley Davidson exited East Railroad Street and drove onto the grass located to the south of the roadway. As he continued westward, Sowers tried to reenter the paved roadway from the grass and lost control of the motorcycle. Sowers was subsequently thrown off of the motorcyle and landed in the grass. The motorcycle skidded back onto the paved roadway and overturned at least once before coming to rest on the pavement.

Sowers was transported from the scene by Clay County Ambulance to the Clay County Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Sowers was cited for Street Racing, Reckless Driving, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash, and Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway.
