Five vehicles were involved in a crash northwest of Effingham Tuesday morning.

The crash happened at 7:46am on Illinois Route 32, just north of the Shumway Road.

Effingham County sheriff's deputies report all five units were southbound on the highway. A vehicle driven by 66-year-old Carol Britton of Beecher City was stopped in traffic. A vehicle driven by 53-year-old Christine Frost of Sullivan was slowing when it was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Wyatt Smith of Stewardson. The impact forced the Frost vehicle off the roadway. Smith's vehicle continued on south and rear-ended the Britton vehicle.

A vehicle driven by 17-year-old Megan Schlechte of Strasburg then rear-ended the Smith vehicle, and a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Samantha Radloff of Shelbyville rear-ended the Schlechte vehicle.

The only person reported injured in the crash was a passenger in Schlechte's vehicle, 16-year-old Kassie Vonderheide of Stewardson. Vonderheide was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were reported.
