Effingham County native Dustin Heuerman is running as the Democrat candidate for Champaign County Sheriff.

Heuerman is a former deputy sheriff in Champaign County and is currently a criminal justice faculty member and police officer for Lake Land College.

Heuerman is the first Democrat candidate in 20 years to run for Champaign County sheriff.
