Power Outages After Midday Storms

Many area listeners found themselves without electric service today following the strong storms that moved through the area.

There were several severe thunderstorm warnings in the area as the storms brought along high winds and hail.

As of mid-afternoon, Ameren was reporting more than 1,000 customers without service. Outages were reported south of Effingham in the Watson area, as well as in and around Newton, Olney, and Flora. Other areas affected were in Clark County in or near Marshall and Casey.

Our area remained under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 5pm.
