One of Three Injured When SUV Rear-Ends Dump Truck Dies of Injuries

One of three people injured when a SUV struck the rear of an IDOT dump truck parked on the shoulder of I-70 in Clark County Thursday has died of her injuries.

The crash happened at 9:50am about four miles west of Marshall.

State Police report the SUV driven by 45-year-old Suzette Ann Ashbaugh of Ellsworth, Kansas was westbound when it left the roadway to the right onto the shoulder and struck the rear of the dump truck. After striking the dump truck, the SUV veered off into the ditch.

Ashbaugh was injured, as were two passengers; 24-year-old Joann Ashbaugh of Ellsworth, Kansas, and 28-year-old Kelsea Glenn Cline of Columbus, Ohio. Suzette Ann Ashbaugh and Kelsea Glenn Cline were airlifted from the scene to Carle Hospital in Urbana. Joann Ashbaugh was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

State police report Cline was pronounced dead at Carle Friday as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the dump truck, 57-year-old Alan Dorjahn of Mattoon, was not injured. 

Arrest information in the crash is pending.
