Governor Pat Quinn says pension reform is the most pressing issue ahead of lawmakers as they get set to return to Springfield for the lame duck session. He says the state's pension problem is 70 years in the making and now is the time to get it solved.

Quinn says this is not a program that should be delayed, especially since credit rating agencies are preparing to downgrade the state's credit rating again. He says reforming the pension system will make sure the state has adequate money for schools, public health and public safety. Quinn feels that lawmakers will be able to get a plan that will pass through both houses in Springfield.
