Dr. Julie Chadd, professor in Eastern Illinois University’s School of Technology, has been selected as the Eastern Illinois Business Education Association’s (EIBEA) Teacher of the Year. The EIBEA is made up of business teachers from Illinois’ eastern region and is an affiliate of the Illinois Business Education Association, whose purpose is to promote business education and share instructional resources and teaching techniques with other business educators.

“I am thrilled that Dr. Chadd was recognized with this distinction, and equally proud of her commitment to our students,” said Dr. Austin Cheney, chair of EIU’s School of Technology. “Julie demonstrates the kind of quality teaching and industry expertise our students have come to expect from the School of Technology, as well as from EIU as an institution of learning.”

Chadd has been an active member of EIBEA and the Illinois Business Education Association for many years. According to colleagues and students, her willingness to assist the organization in any way possible matches the dedication and caring she demonstrates as a teacher, earning her the respect of her students and peers. She continues to promote the field of business education in her role at EIU by teaching and inspiring future business educators.

In her nomination materials, EIU student Jean Cornell shared “[Dr. Chadd’s] demeanor in and out of the classroom is a class act. As a role model, she is a guiding light who shares past experiences and future challenges. Dr. Chadd is very deserving of [this] award.”

Chadd also has served in numerous roles in IBEA, including as a board member, officer, presenter, and chairperson.
