A Dieterich man has been sentenced in Clay County Circuit Court to eight years in prison on a drug charge.

35-year-old Adam Pipkins was sentenced by Judge Kimberly Koester Wednesday for a felony offense of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. He will serve two years' mandatory supervised release once out of prison.

Pipkins was spotted by a Clay County sheriff's deputy on March 23, headed north on an ATV on US Route 45 toward Louisville. The deputy attempted to stop Pipkins but was unsuccessful, then pursued the ATV until terminating the chase as the ATV entered the Louisville village limits.

The deputy later located the ATV behind a residence east of Louisville with Pipkins still on the ATV, unconscious. Pipkins attempted to resist when the deputy attempted to arrest him, but was unsuccessful and was taken into custody.
