Effingham Noon Rotary Club members learned more about The Equity at their meeting April 4.

The Equity's CEO Bruce Vernon shared about the continued growth of the business, which was formed in 1919. Vernon also discussed the acquisition of a feed mill in Horace, Illinois and its importance to the company's growth. He discussed the tariff threat and thinks that some sabre-rattling is going on that might lead to a better deal for everyone.

Robin Brown of The Equity was also on hand. Carl Schwinke served as Rotary weekly program chairman.

The Noon Club also inducted a new member, Kory Doty of Crossroads Retirement Services and an officer of Crossroads Bank in Effingham. Doty was proposed for membership by Rotarian Scott Mosher.

The meeting was also significant since it marked Newlin Martin's 50th anniversary as a member of Rotary. Newlin was honored, complete with cake.

The Rotary weekly student guest was Clayton Helmink, son of Tim and Sharon Helmink and a student at St. Anthony High School. Clayton had to get to class and couldn't stay for a photo.
