Dieterich will celebrate its 125th Anniversary, or Quasquicentennial, August 17-19 this year. As a part of the celebration, a new historical book is being created.

The book will include communities, churches, family histories, businesses, schools, memorial/tributes, stories, photos and much more. Organizers say it's a rare opportunity to preserve the history of Dieterich for generations to come.

Especially needed are items that have happened in the last 25 years, since the 100th anniversary history book was printed in 1993. Organizers are now reminding everyone that this information needs to be submitted by Saturday, March 31.

All submissions are free to all those who reside in the Dieterich area (school district/fire district) and previous residents, or anyone who has a history in Dieterich. Organizers expect to have the printed books available for sale early August.

Please submit articles and photos to dieterichhistory@gmail.com or they can be dropped of at the Village Hall on Main Street, or mailed to Village of Dieterich, Historical Book, P.O. Box 243, Dieterich, IL, 62424.
