Primary Election Results in Area Counties

There were only a few contested races in area counties on Primary Election Day Tuesday.

In Jasper County, incumbent Linda Griffith Huth defeated challenger David Cohorst 429 to 235 for the Democrat nomination for County Clerk. Huth will face Republican nominee Amy Tarr in November.

A proposition on the ballot for residents of Willow Hill was defeated, 45 No to 14 Yes.

In Clay County, a proposition in Xenia Township failed 109 No to 51 Yes, and a proposition in the village of Clay City was approved 90 Yes to 62 No.

In Cumberland County, voters helped Chris Miller win the Republican nomination for state representative in the 110th District over Terry Davis. Miller will face Democrat Shirley Bell in November. Also, Steve Maroon won the Republican nomination for county sheriff over Ray Hamilton, 1,894 to 603.

There were no contested races in Shelby County or in Fayette County.
