(GOV. BRUCE RAUNER AT SUNDAY'S LINCOLN DAY DINNER)

It wasn't hard to tell who was the officeholder and who was the challenger from remarks by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and State Representative Jeanne Ives at Sunday's Effingham County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner.

While Rauner continued his criticism of Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan in seeking another term in office, Ives termed Rauner "unelectable" and "a coward" in looking to unseat Rauner as the Republican nominee in this month's primary election.

Rauner continued his familiar themes of seeking term limits and legislative changes that would make Illinois more business-friendly, while Ives criticized the governor for signing House Bill 40 into law that affects funding for abortions and for making Illinois a sanctuary state for those in Illinois who are undocumented.
