Eight individuals filed paperwork in hopes of being selected Effingham County Coroner.

Effingham County Republican Central Committee Chairman Rob Arnold said the eight will be interviewed over the course of the coming week with hopes of having the process completed by Friday.

The eight are seeking to succeed the late Duane Guffey as Coroner until after the November general election. In the meantime, someone will be elected in November to serve the remaining two years of Guffey's unexpired term. Republicans will caucus in June to choose someone to run for the remainder of the term.
