Schools in the North Clay School District in Louisville will be closed on Thursday.

North Clay Superintendent Monty Aldrich said the decision was made following rumors of planned violence.

Aldrich said Wednesday afternoon near dismissal time, North Clay Administration received a tip from two people at the school that there was an alleged threat. The threat was that a group of students were planning to carry out a violent act in North Clay schools on Thursday with several specific actions.

A press release from Aldrich indicated that the North Clay Administration took action at that point to secure possible suspects and alerted law enforcement. The investigation continued Wednesday evening with school district officials and law enforcement.

Aldrich said additional information will be released as it becomes available.

We contacted the Clay County Sheriff's Department in Louisville about 10pm Wednesday. The deputy there said there was no information to be released at that time.

Once again, North Clay Unit 25 schools in Louisville will be closed on Thursday.
