Effingham Resident Injured in Crash Near South Tri-Level

An Effingham resident was injured Sunday afternoon in a weather-related crash. The crash happened on the interstate near the south tri-level.

State police report a pickup truck driven by 27-year-old Brett Deters of Montrose was northbound on I-57 at the tri-level at 3:44pm when the vehicle skidded on the snowy pavement. The vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and struck a ditch, then overturned.

A passenger in the pickup truck, 26-year-old Molly Webb of Effingham, was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Deters was cited for improper lane usage, while Webb was cited for not wearing her seat belt.

Another passenger, 26-year-old Taylor Davis of Effingham, was not reported injured.
