Three individuals were arrested Thursday by Altamont police on methamphetamine charges.

27-year-old Brandon Neville of Altamont was arrested with two Indiana women after an officer saw the vehicle they were traveling in pull into an abandoned business near the interstate. The officer said Neville tried to get out of the vehicle and walk away, but he was ordered back into the suspect vehicle. The officer also reported that one of the women appeared awkward and nervous, and reportedly admitted there was meth in the vehicle.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said Neville and the women, 51-year-old Kay Myers of Wheatland, Indiana and 55-year-old Dawn Kimmell of Vincennes, Indiana became acquainted in Kansas City, where Neville said his car had broken down. The women were headed home to Indiana so invited Neville to ride home with them.

Each of the three was charged Friday with Class X felony counts of methamphetamine trafficking and meth delivery. Kibler said the meth delivery charge is punishable by up to nine to 40 years in prison, while the meth trafficking offense is punishable by up to 18 to 80 years in prison. Myers' bond was set at $5,000, Kimmell's bond was set at $7,500 and Neville's bond was set at $75,000.

Neville and Kimmell are due for court appearances on February 8, while Myers' court appearance is set for March 14.

Kibler said they will also attempt to seek forfeiture of $2,376 in cash found in the vehicle.
